It started with one cat.
Long before HausWhiskerfell had a name, a rescued kitten named Minya changed the course of our lives—and began a journey that would eventually lead us here.
2016 · AN UNEXPECTED BEGINNING
The cat who started it all.
In 2016, a rescued kitten named Minya unexpectedly found her way into our family. What we thought would be one rescue quickly became something much more.
Through her, we discovered the extraordinary bond cats share with the people who love them. She taught us patience, compassion, and the quiet joy that only a cat can bring into a home.
Looking back, Minya was our lucky cat—not because she brought us fortune, but because she opened the door to a journey we never expected.
LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE
Curiosity became responsibility.
Minya inspired us to learn everything we could about feline health, behavior, and care. That curiosity grew into rescuing and fostering cats in need, advocating for their welfare, and eventually taking our first steps into responsible breeding.
Before moving to the United States, we operated a small Persian breeding program in the Philippines. It was there that we began to understand more deeply the responsibility that comes with raising healthy, well-socialized kittens—and the importance of supporting the families who welcome them home.
A Dream Takes Shape
Then came the Maine Coons.
During our years in the Philippines, we welcomed our first Maine Coons into our family. Experiencing the breed firsthand—their presence, temperament, intelligence, and unmistakable character—left a lasting impression on us.
What began as admiration gradually became a dream: one day, we hoped to build a preservation breeding program dedicated to the Maine Coon, guided by thoughtful selection, responsible breeding, and respect for the qualities that make the breed so distinctive.
A NEW CHAPTER
Life had different plans.
When the opportunity to relocate to the United States came, our plans for a Maine Coon breeding program were placed on hold. For the time being, our focus shifted from building a cattery to preparing for a new life and making thoughtful decisions for the cats already in our care.
During this chapter, our family continued to grow as more stray cats found their way to us. Some would eventually make the journey to the United States with us, while others were carefully placed with loving families in the Philippines.
Leaving was not simply about starting over somewhere new. It meant making sure each cat had a safe and secure future, whether that future was with us or with a new family.
The dream of HausWhiskerfell had not disappeared. It was simply waiting for the right time and place to begin.
2025 · HAUSWHISKERFELL
The dream finally had a home.
In 2025, after finally reuniting with our cats in Southern California, we were able to return to the dream we had carried for years. HausWhiskerfell was born—not simply as a cattery, but as the culmination of years of learning, unexpected detours, and the many cats who shaped our lives along the way.
The values that began with Minya remain at the heart of our program today: compassion, responsibility, and a commitment to continually doing better for the cats entrusted to our care.
LOOKING FORWARD
Our story is still being written.
HausWhiskerfell continues to grow through experience, education, and the guidance of those who have dedicated years to the breed. We continue to learn from experienced mentors, participate in TICA shows, invest in health screening, and evaluate each generation with the goal of continually strengthening our program.
Our ambition is not simply to produce beautiful Maine Coons. We hope to make thoughtful contributions to the breed while raising cats whose health, temperament, structure, and character reflect the care behind every decision we make.
From one rescued kitten to the program we are building today, the cats have always been at the heart of our story—and they always will be.
